Radiographic Testing – RT
The conventional RT is mainly utilized to inspect materials for hidden flaws. X-ray and gamma ray are used to detect internal defects, in measuring wall thickness, and corrosion detection. The inspectors of Island CERTS Corp are well versed and experienced in this type of testing. The inspectors are ANSI/ASNT/SNT-TC-1A Level II certified technicians. A Radiation Safety Office (RSO) will also be present to monitor classified and non-classified workers during the entire exposure compliant to Island CERTS Corp Safety Policy and RT Procedures, and in conformance with ASME-V Article-2.
Ultrasonic Testing – UT
UT is applied for flaw detection and evaluation, dimensional/thickness measurements, material characterizations, and more. UT is the traditional method in tracing and analyzing metal losses/cracks in vessels, tank, pipe, and other heavy walls suspected of being internally corroded or have thinning areas or defective welds which a naked eye cannot visualize.
Magnetic Flux Leakage – OOSI Storage Tank
Island CERTS Corp. is a specialist in performing a comprehensive external and internal inspection of a Storage Tank facility. OOSI aims to determine the current condition of the facility with focus on defects and similar factors which affects its reliability and further serviceability. Through OOSI, measures shall be identified to ensure the continued serviceable integrity of the facility. Modern equipment is utilized to ensure accurate and fast work implementation. A Magnetic Flux Leakage Equipment is used to scan defects on the bottom plates. Thickness gauging and corrosion rate calculations are performed in order to determine the minimum serviceable life of the facility.
Magnetic Particle Inspection – MPI
MPI is the most selected traditional method of tracing cracks; tracing surface and sub-surface defects on component design, structures; Heat Affected Zones (HAZ) of welded parts of pressure vessels, pressure piping and all appurtenances attached to pressurized equipment such as boilers, heat exchangers, pressurized containers, penstock high pressure portion, and more.
Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing – PAUT
Island CERTS Corp. utilizes PAUT for weld Inspection and crack detection, and is mainly geared for works in power plants, petrochemical plants, pipeline construction and maintenance, and structural metals. PAUT is most effective in revealing defects that are hidden inside welds or structures. The application of PAUT is much faster to implement as compared to conventional UT, more accurate results are obtained, all data are digitally stored, and much more safer as this technique do not apply x-rays and gamma rays.
Vacuum Testing
Vacuum testing is one of the most adaptive method to test for any defects or leaks in the bottom. Vacuum box is used to clear for any leaks or faults in the welding of bottom and annular plates of the tank, and sometimes it is used on roof plates welding test. The vacuum pump attached creates a vacuum in the vacuum box, which shows bubbles in the soap water applied in the weld in case of any leaks or weld defects.
Welding Works Inspection
Island CERTS Corp can provide its expertise in ensuring fabrication requiring welding works is compliant to the specifications of clients and owners as well as to internationally acceptable codes and standards. Such work expertise includes the following services: - Welding inspection - Welder’s qualification test (WQT) - Welding Procedure Qualification Testing
Dye Penetrant Testing – DPT
To ensure defect free welding on critical jobs, DPT is applied for every pass of weld deposited. This is to weed out defects and other discontinuities which are to be removed by grinding. Defects are revealed and identified by DPT when bleeding occurs on defective portion, and comes out on the surface for removal. The Heat Affected Zones (HAZ), where cracking might be present on heavy walls from 19.0mm and above thickness in piping, can also be revealed by DPT. This can only be performed through proper application, and by competent and certified level-II Technicians for this discipline.
